I haven't been to the museum all summer. Today I had tickets to experience the James Turrell exhibit, including the Perceptual Cell and Dark Matters. The whole exhibit is mind blowing and disorienting (I was actually a little dizzy from the Perceptual Cell experience). No photos allowed (besides photos would not capture the full experience). The Roden Crater models were really cool, would love to see that some day (if it ever opens to the public).
In the Resnick there were models of the latest ideas for rebuilding LACMA with some super cool models of the new building and site. This plan is by Peter Zumthor, a Swiss architect. The new building would be very open to the outside passerby, which would be amazing (and very LA I think). The model builders included miniatures of existing LACMA art to show the potential.
