Mary Poppins

The musical version of the movie is in LA and it's terrific! Of course the old familiar songs are all there. Some new numbers are added but they can't compete. The basic story line remains the same, however the particulars of the musical numbers are altered to fit the stage setting. The staging, sets and lighting are wonderful and really take advantage of the fact that this is theatre, and what makes it different from movies. There are a lot of children here! They are having to stay up way past bedtimes (some of them looked very sleepy during intermission). This really is a magical evening showing the best of Broadway musicals.
